The Junction Retail Centre – Waiuku

The Junction at Waiuku is an example of a hybrid development where the master planning requirements are special for a number of reasons.

It was important that this project’s location within a small regional township was recognised, as this influenced the options and proposed mix available; the population base, the needs of the local community, and also the reality of the potential anchors and tenants.

The history of the specific locality and of the general area of Waiuku allowed for consideration of a tourist dimension to the development, and it needed to spread its base and have a multifunctional spirit.

High level master planning options were distilled down to a marketing master plan to attract participation, and the process also informed the client that adjacent land holdings should ideally be included in the overall development.
